Simmons Rockwell Hornell Ripoffs

I bought my 07 Pontiac Grand Prix with 10k miles in August and have had it in the shop 4 times in 6 months. After about a month, an annoying thump occurred in the wheels, Simmons-Rockwell in Hornell said to take it to a GM dealer which we did and the lug nuts were loose.

S-R stated that their service department had not seen the car so we would have to take it to Monro Muffler (who did see the car) where they did replace the rear tires for us free of charge but refused to pay for the wheel alignment which all tire dealers require to fulfill road hazard warranty (October).

In December the thumping was back. This time we took it to the S-R service department in Bath where they replaced the rear wheel bearings but our rear tires were shot. They said it was our responsibility to replace the tires even though the wheel bearings passed by 2 garages and they refused to do the alignment at Monro. Turns out the Alignment was way off also so I had to flip $350 for 2 new tires and an alignment on a car with under 20k miles.

The service dept manager at Bath was very helpful but said the tires could only be replaced by his shop if the Hornell General Manager Authorized it. I called him, of course, and he refused to replace the tires. Once I mentioned taking legal action he wouldn't talk to me anymore.

My biggest complaint is that Simmons-Rockwell does nothing to their New/Used cars it gets on it's lot, nor do they stand by their vehicles which I have read in other postings on this site.

Please be very weary about purchasing any vehicle from this Dealership in Hornell, NY. If you don't believe me (should have been an indicator for me) go test drive a few cars and I will guarantee that at least one will have something wrong with it that you DO notice. The day we purchased this vehicle we test drove about 8 vehicles from SUV's to sedans and at least 6 of them were either extremely dirty or not road worthy. One vehicle (a Jeep) had breaks that sounded like metal grinding on metal. I was so surprised that they would even let people drive these vehicles let alone sell them.

I hope this helps anyone looking in the Hornell area for a vehicle.

I purchased a new subaru from them last week and I did not find anything wrong with them, infact I found them as honest and professional car dealer, so far everythig is perfect.

Simmons is a rip off, paid so much for registration, on'y cost half of what they kept, no refund, wrote letter to NY State Attorney General, lets see what happens

I purchased a 2006 Ranger from Horseheads and I discovered that it was fitted with three different size tires.

I also have to wonder if the truck was a flood vehicle because every piece of paper in the gloove compartment was water logged.

They also sold me the rust preventive device which didn't do a thing. The truck is rusting away.

I would NEVER buy a vehicle, let alone take one in to service at S-R Hornell. Their service department is a joke.

They wrongly diagnosed a faulty turn signal switch as the problem with my car that cost me $86 just to check and could have cost me $300 more. I found the problem myself which was a shorted trailer hitch wiring harness and fixed and it cost me ZERO!

They are supposed to be trained and certified to repair vehicles, not to 'guess and pick a part to replace and see if that works' which is basically what they wrote up on the receipt. I would NOT buy or have a car repaired here, EVER.

Simmons Rockwell is the only place to buy a car. Talk about getting ripped off?..buy elsewhere and you'll see what getting ripped off is all about.

95% of there cars are under factory warranty too, so any problems and you take to an authorized service facility. Simple!!

Call and cancel your entended warranty. You will be entitled to a refund.

You can purchase the same one on the internet for about a hundred dollars. Then call and inform the attorney general. The sad thing is that the mechanics in the back would really like some work, but Mr. Brock would rather send the cars out to Monro.

Keep calling to complain. Buyer beware, there is no service after the sale.

You are better off spending the extra couple thousand at Maple City Dodge, where they will remember your name, and stand by their vehichles after you spend your hard earned money. You wont end up saving unless you buy brand new, if you buy a used car0 your just paying for the newest addidtion to the old Mc Henry home.

I agree 100%. The customer service is terrible after you buy a used car from then. They just ignore you!

They sold me an extended warranty, which I come to find out today does not cover the Loweer Steering Shaft......I got the Shaft alright. I have already informed them that I will take my business elsewhere from this point forward and being 39 years old I can tell you they have lost a lot of business. I will be sure to share all of this info with everyone I know.
